Arko conducted a feasibility study for the creation of the Port-au-Prince Arts Center, supporting local stakeholders (Centre d'Art, FOKAL, Association 4 Chemins) in defining the governance, operational approach, and economic model of Haiti’s future cultural center.

The feasibility study identified the economic and institutional viability conditions for the Fabrique des Arts in Port-au-Prince.

Project description

Arko supported a feasibility study for the creation of an Arts Centre in Port-au-Prince by rehabilitating the existing Centre d'Art. This project was identified as strategic for structuring Haiti’s cultural ecosystem, enhancing Haiti’s artistic influence in the Caribbean, local job creation, and social cohesion.
Process
The study was structured in two phases: defining the Arts Centre’s governance model, followed by determining operational methods, activities, and the economic and financial model. A week-long workshop in Haiti (January 15–21, 2022) enabled the establishment of a realistic 4-year timeline and a comprehensive review of the intervention logic.
Specific Objectives
  1. Create a functional and open space for free expression, exchange, and multidisciplinary creation
  2. Strengthen the skills and capacities of cultural organizations and cultural professionals
  3. Promote access to culture for all by anchoring the arts hub in its neighborhood and city
